Co-Inform Dashboard: Policymakers evaluate the tool

Authors: Myrsini Glinos and Andreas Berg, eGovlab Stockholm University. Syed Iftikhar Shah, International Hellenic University

A round of evaluations for the Co-Inform dashboard are taking place in May 2021 with policymakers around Europe. The Co-inform dashboard was developed to support policymakers’ information evaluation practices for decision making. The evaluation study is being carried out across different partner countries: Ireland, Cyprus, Austria, Greece and Sweden. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic all the evaluations are conducted online. The results of the evaluations will be analysed in the project’s final deliverables.

Policymakers’  Dashboard: A Project Milestone

The evaluation sessions with the policymakers are a key milestone in the project. It is the first time that a prototype is shown to policymakers and an important step for obtaining feedback from this particular stakeholder group.

This study will allow us to evaluate the extent to which the dashboard we developed supports policymakers in decision making and information evaluation. The study’s results will also provide feedback to the tech teams for the final version of the Co-Inform dashboard.

Last evaluation round

This evaluation study is the last of three of the Co-inform project. The first evaluation study took place in December 2020 and focused on citizens who tested the Co-inform plugin. The second evaluation study involved a dashboard evaluation with journalists in March 2021.

Co-Inform’s mission is to foster critical thinking and digital literacy.

Academic surveys have shown that online misinformation is becoming more difficult to identify. Online misinformation has the potential to deceive even readers with strong literacy skills. Our goal is to provide citizens, journalists, and policymakers with tools to spot ‘fake news’ online, understand how they spread, and obtain access to verified information.
